App Will Stream Performances Live From Detroit Jazz Festival

DETROIT (AP) -- A new app will offer live-streamed performances from this year's Detroit Jazz Festival.

The "Detroit Jazz Fest LIVE!" app will be available starting Aug. 10, but music fans may register online to get a 50 percent discount. Organizers say that those who sign up early will get access to video streams from more than 50 performances for $15.

The festival runs Sept. 2-5. The Labor Day weekend event is a big tourist attraction, bringing many out-of-state visitors to Detroit.

Organizers say the first time that such a live stream has been offered via app. It also includes an event schedule, festival map and artist information. The regular price for the app, which will be available for mobile devices, tablets or desktop computers, is $30.
