Annual Wayne County 'Mud Day' Scheduled For Tuesday

WESTLAND, Mich. (AP) -- Parks officials in Wayne County are planning the transformation of a popular play area into a 150-foot by 75-foot mud pit.

The 29th annual Mud Day is scheduled July 12 at the Hines Park-Nankin Mills Area in Westland, west of Detroit.

Children 12 and younger will be able to slosh around in the pit while participating in mud limbo, wheelbarrow races and other free activities.

Parents are encouraged to bring towels. Hoses will be used to rinse mud from children after the event.
