Ann Arbor Woman Seeks Sentimental Item Mistakenly Sold At Estate Sale

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - An Ann Arbor woman is hoping the person who bought a sentimental item at her father's estate sale will sell the item back to her.

Cynthia Lunan took control of her father's house in Lathrup Village after he passed away. She held an estate sale at the home on Red River Drive near Evergreen and the Lodge on Oct. 24 and 25, but wasn't at the event per the estate sale company.

Lunan did a walk through and took a look at all the items to make sure nothing was being sold that shouldn't be. But she came home to an unwelcome surprise.

"When I walked through the house I found my father's bench vice had been removed from the bench with a crowbar, and apparently sold to someone," she told WWJ's Zahra Huber. "There's splintered wood everywhere, there's a hole in front of his bench where they pried it off."

A bench vise is attached to a workbench to hold a material or component in place while it's being worked on.

The vise is visible in a YouTube video here. It was not marked for sale.

Lunan said she is asking whoever bought the bench vice to contact her, and she will buy it back.

"To get it back would be almost like one last Christmas present from my Dad and I couldn't possibly wish for more than that," she said.

To reach Lunan, you can e-mail her at clunan@provide.net.

WWJ has a call out to the estate sale for comment.
