'American Idol' Finalist In Contempt For Unpaid Bills

FLINT, Mich. (AP) - A judge has found former "American Idol" finalist LaKisha Jones guilty of civil contempt for failing to pay her father's nursing home bills.

The Flint, Mich., native finished fourth in 2007 on the TV talent show and performed on Broadway in "The Color Purple."

The Flint Journal says Genesee County Probate Judge Jennie Barkey on Tuesday found Jones in contempt for not paying Lonnie Jones' bills, leading to his involuntarily transfer from one home and balances at the new home.

The 34-year-old Jones received guardianship of her 68-year-old father in 2012 after his stroke.

She says she used his Social Security check for his rent and his other living costs, adding she "didn't steal" his money.

The judge says Jones has 60 days to pay up or risk jail.
