Amazon Introduces New Streaming Media Stick

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Amazon introduced Monday its latest streaming media device which will go head-to-head with Google Chromecast.
Amazon rolled out the Fire TV Stick which claims to have twice the memory of its competitor and streams Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video.
"Fire TV Stick is the most powerful streaming media stick available—a dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, dual-band and dual-antenna Wi-Fi, included remote control, voice search with our free mobile app, easy set-up, an open ecosystem, and exclusive features like ASAP for instant streaming," said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com Founder and CEO, in a release.
The Fire TV Stick will be sold for $39, and is available for two days only for just $19 on Amazon.com for new and existing Prime members. The stick comes nearly seven months after the introduction of the Amazon Fire TV streaming media box.
Similar to Chromecast, the Fire TV Stick connects to the HDMI port on an HDTV for access to movies, TV shows, music, photos, apps, and games.
Additionally the stick includes a remote control to navigate shows, or it can be operated by a free Fire TV Remote App. Amazon also built in the Whispersync technology which allows users to start watching a movie on your phone or tablet, and when you get home, pick up where you left off on your TV.
The Fire TV Stick will be released Nov. 19.
