Almost 1K Take Part In 2015 Susan G. Komen 3-Day Raising $1.9 Million

DETROIT (WWJ) - Lisa Smith concluded the 2015 Susan G. Komen Michigan 3-Day Sunday adding that accomplishment to a growing number of fundraising campaigns to fight breast cancer.

Along with her sister, Smith make the journey in honor of their grandmother, a breast cancer survivor.

They decided to walk one year as a way of saying thank you, and they've been walking ever since.

More than 950 women and men took part in the walk raising more than $1.9 million for breast cancer research, scientific programs and community-based breast health and education programs.

The three-day, 60-mile journey began Friday at Suburban Collection Showplace with participants walking 20 miles each day and sleeping in tents each night—all to make a huge difference in the fight against breast cancer.
