Allen Park Bank Held Up By Gunman; Police Search For Suspect

ALLEN PARK (WWJ) -- Police are searching for a suspected bank robber who is on the run in the downriver area on Saturday.

Allen Park Police said that the Chase Bank on the corner of Southfield Rd. and Rosedale was robbed Saturday morning around 10:30 a.m. The suspect allegedly grabbed a customer and put a handgun to his head then demanded cash from a teller.

Lt. James Soden described the suspect.

"[It was a] black male in his mid-40s, approximately 5-foot-11 to 6-feet tall with a slender build," Soden said. "He was armed with a small silver handgun and was suspected to have left on foot."

Soden said that the customer was not injured. It is unknown if the suspect took any amount of money at this time.
