Alleged Drunk Driver Lands SUV On Its Side On Macomb Township Lawn [PHOTOS]

MACOMB TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Authorities believe alcohol was a factor in a dramatic crash that left an SUV on its side in front of a Macomb Township home early Monday morning.

According to Macomb County Sheriff's officials, two people were still inside the 2016 Ford Explorer when EMS arrived on the scene, on Porta Marina near Garfield and 21 Mile roads, at around 1 a.m.

Two 28-year-old men had to be cut out of the vehicle and were taken to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital with that were described as non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

It appears the SUV stopped just shy of hitting the house. No one inside the home was injured.

Investigators spoke with a witness who said he saw the vehicle speeding up Sanborn Drive immediately before the crash, and then heard wheels screeching before the sound of a crash. It does not appear that there were any other cars involved.

The driver, a Macomb Township resident, faces an expected charge of operating while intoxicated. Sheriff's officials said his name will be released after he's arraigned.

Results of a blood alcohol test are pending.
