All Armada Schools Closed Thursday Due To Gas Leak

ARMADA (WWJ) - In northern Macomb County, all Armada schools are closed Thursday due to a gas leak.

According to a notice posted to the school district's website, the leak happened Thursday morning at the elementary school and all students and teachers were evacuated to the high school.

As a result of the problem, the district said all schools would be closed  for the day.

The students will be dismissed as follows, according to the website: The elementary students will continue to stay under supervision at the high school and can be picked up by parents at 10:15 a.m. Middle school students will be dismissed at 9 a.m. and students who are normally transported by bus will be transported home. High school students will be dismissed at 9:15 a,m, and students who are normally transported by bus will be transported home.

No illnesses or injuries in connection with the leak were immediately reported.

It's unclear at this time what caused the leak or how long it might take to repair.
