Alex Avila Returns From DL, Holaday Sent To Triple-A
DETROIT (CBS Detroit) — After missing nearly two months with a knee injury, the Detroit Tigers activated catcher Alex Avila from the disabled list on Friday.

Avila was batting .200 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 22 games before going out with a knee injury in May. In six games with Triple-A Toledo on his rehab assignment, Avila batted .300 with one home run and five RBIs.
To make room for Avila, backup catcher Bryan Holaday was sent back to Toledo.

Manager Brad Ausmus has said that Avila will likely resume his role as the starter, while being backed up by James McCann.
