Alcohol Or Drugs Suspected In Crash That Killed 2-Year-Old Girl

YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Washtenaw County authorities believe a man who hit and killed a 2-year old girl on the 4th of July was either drunk or on drugs.

The child was walking on Carol Ann Ave. in Ypsilanti Township at around 6 p.m. when she was struck by a car driven by a 54-year old Ypsilanti man.

The girl was rushed to a local hospital by family members but was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors told WWJ Tuesday afternoon that they the sheriff's office had not yet sent them the case for review, and that nothing was expected too soon as traffic investigation such as they tend to take some time.

The driver remained at the Washtenaw County Jail on Tuesday with any possible charges still pending.

No names have been released.
