Adult Immunization Suggestions Updated

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) -- When it comes to immunizations kids typically come to mind, but the same should also apply to adults, according to the CDC.

The American College of Physicians and The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released an updated list of immunizations recommended for adults. Topping the list are the pneumonia vaccines for those 65 and older.

Lung specialist Neal Chaisson said that seniors should be taking immunizations seriously.

"Those people are at an increased risk for infection in general, especially pneumonia, and those are the people who we really make an extra effort to make sure that they're getting vaccinated properly," Chaisson said.

There are also updated guidelines on tetanus, HPV and Hepatitis A and B vaccines. More information can be found at the Centers for Disease Control and the American College of Physicians websites.
