AAA Michigan: Statewide Average Gas Prices Rise 5 Cents

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - AAA Michigan says gas prices statewide have increased by about 5 cents a gallon in the past week.

The Dearborn-based auto club says the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.02 per gallon Sunday. That's about 42 cents less than it was at the same point last year.

It's the sixth consecutive week that statewide average daily gas prices have increased. AAA Michigan says it's the first time since November that the statewide average daily price has been over $2 per gallon. [FuelGaugeReport]

The lowest average price was about $1.98 per gallon in the Ann Arbor and Detroit areas, while the highest average was about $2.07 per gallon in the Marquette area.

AAA Michigan surveys daily fuel prices at 2,800 gas stations across the state.
