AAA Michigan: Statewide Average Gas Price Rises 2 Cents

DEARBORN (AP) — AAA Michigan says the statewide average price for gas has risen 2 cents in the past week.

The Dearborn-based auto club says late Sunday that the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $1.55 per gallon. That's down about 74 cents from the same point a year ago.

The lowest average price was found in the Jackson area, where it was about $1.52 per gallon. The highest average price was in the Marquette area, where it was about $1.58 a gallon.

The increase comes after AAA Michigan said last Tuesday that the statewide average price dipped below $1.50 for the first time since 2004.

The auto club surveys daily fuel prices at 2,800 gas stations across Michigan.
