A Return To The Joe For Sergei Fedorov And A Move Into The Hockey Hall Of Fame

DETROIT (WWJ) - It was a triumphant return Tuesday night for one of Detroit's most popular athletes.

But Sergei Fedorov returned to Joe Louis Arena to celebrate his induction this week into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Fedorov says it doesn't seem like 25 years since he left Detroit reports WWJ's Sandra McNeill.

"Time flew by when you are busy everyday doing what you love, and time went by quick - it really did," said Fedorov. "I remember when I was 20 (July 1990) best summer probably in Detroit, weather wise, I was arriving here and here I am."

Fedorov blames his advisors for his departure from Detroit -- and says he really wanted to stay. At 45, Fedorov is coaching in Russia, and his wife is expecting their first child. But he says he still considers Detroit his home.
