A Dozen Neglected Horses Removed From Genesee County Farm

MUNDY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities have removed a dozen horses from a farm in Genesee County's Mundy Township.

Township police Detective Mike Neering tells The Flint Journal for a story Friday that the 11 adult horses and one foal had infected hooves and were forced to live among heaps of their own feces.

The horses also appeared underfed.

The farm is southwest of Flint. Stalls and barns are rented to horse owners who are responsible for their upkeep. Neering says horses owned by others and kept at the farm are healthy.

Authorities were told Monday about the horses and seized them Wednesday after a veterinarian determined they were in poor health.

They were taken to a horse rescue in Ann Arbor. Their owner could face charges.
