$95K Effort Seeks To Curb Congestion At Detroit-Windsor Tunnel

DETROIT (AP) - Michigan is getting more than $95,000 to help curb traffic congestion at a tunnel between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario.

The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration on Friday announced the grant for the Michigan Department of Transportation. The money for the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel is expected to go to technology at the border crossing.

The grant for Michigan is part of broader funding that's aimed at offering better information about wait times for travelers.

The Federal Highway Administration's Border Wait Time Deployment Initiative is designed to accelerate the adoption of innovative technology, such as sensors, to measure delay and wait times.
