9-Year Old Found Hanging In Detroit Home, Authorities Investigating
DETROIT (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of a 9-year-old boy who was found hanging in his Detroit home.
The circumstances surrounding the boy's death weren't immediately clear.
Mary Mazur, a spokeswoman for the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office, says the boy was pronounced dead late Saturday at the Children's Hospital of Michigan. The Detroit Free Press reports that an autopsy was conducted Sunday.
Mazur says the boy's next-of-kin hadn't formally identified his body as of Sunday afternoon.
Ed Ramey, who lives down the block from the boy and his family, told the newspaper that a mass of squad cars drew neighbors from their homes Saturday night. He says authorities were performing CPR on the boy and that he heard the mother yell.
