88-Year-Old Man Dies In Car Crash In Sterling Heights

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- A elderly Sterling Heights man died on Saturday following a three-car accident.

According to Sterling Heights police, the incident happened on Hayes Rd. just north of 18 Mile at about 11:30 a.m. Accident investigation discovered that the 88-year-old driver turned into the path of an oncoming car, driven by a 25-year-old Warren man. That driver then ran off the roadway and another vehicle collided with the elderly man's car.

Both men were taken to an area hospital, where the 88-year-old later died from his injuries. The 25-year-old is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
