Lower Gas Prices Have More Michiganders Hitting The Road During Holiday

DETROIT (WWJ) - Over 1.3 million Michiganders are making plans to hit the road for the holidays. Susan Hiltz from AAA Michigan says drivers should do a car check up before they hit the road.

"We are definitely reminding folks to be safe and make sure that their car is road ready --- so that means checking your battery, your tire pressure and windshield washer fluid, we want to make sure that folks are ready once they are on the road," said Hiltz.

Hiltz says lower gas prices are encouraging lots of people to travel this year.

"The gas prices are definitely help everybody -- it's easy on the wallet when (prices) drop. Right now, we are looking at prices that are close to a dollar less than last year at Thanksgiving."

Hiltz says expect Wednesday and Thursday to show the uptick in holiday travel as well as the return on the weekend.
