75-Year-Old Woman Dies In Brighton Mobile Home Fire

BRIGHTON (WWJ) -- Authorities in Brighton say a woman was killed in a fire that heavily damaged her mobile home during the bitter cold early Sunday morning.

Neighbors identified the victim as 75-year-old Donna Bingham. Brighton Area Fire Chief Michael O'Brian says firefighters needed to rotate frequently while they battled the blaze because it was about negative seven degrees in the area.

O'Brian says a driver on I-96 called in the report of a fire just before 3 a.m. Sunday morning. The fire was in a unit at the Sylvan Glen mobile home park in Genoa Township, about 50 miles Northwest of Detroit.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
