7-Year-Old Girl Hit By Car In Woodhaven, Driver Flees Scene

WOODHAVEN (WWJ) -- A 7-year-old girl was hospitalized Friday night after being hit by a car while trying to cross a busy street in Woodhaven.

Jolee Werley was hit by a vehicle while crossing West Rd. near Hall Rd. just before 8 p.m. She was walking with her siblings from a McDonald's.

Woodhaven Police Lt. Gary McSweeney tells WWJ Newsradio 950 that the group was not using a cross walk.

The driver fled the scene in what authorities say was a dark blue, newer model Chevrolet Impala or Malibu. Anyone with information is asked to contact Woodhaven police.

McSweeney said Werley is at Children's Hospital and underwent surgery and treatment for a fractured leg and head injuries.
