7 Injured As Frightened Pony Bolts Through Crowd At Festival

WARREN, Mich. (AP) - Police say a pony got loose in a crowd at a suburban Detroit festival, injuring seven people including three children.

Warren police Lt. Cortland Larry tells The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens the pony was startled and broke free on Saturday afternoon at Underwood Park during Warren Summerfest, which was presented by Warren-based Liberty Family Outreach.

Police say the pony bumped into a parked truck and ran through the crowd before being caught.

Police ruled it an accident and described the injuries as not being life-threatening. Bob Waters, a festival organizer, told WDIV-TV that the injuries included a laceration to a boy, a bump on a girl's forehead and a person with either a sprain or a fracture.

The animal, which was part of a pony ride attraction, wasn't hurt.
