Christmas Trees Donated To Military Families Throughout The Country

LAINGSBURG, Mich. (WWJ) - The holidays will be a lot brighter for military members and their families in the U.S. and around the world thanks to Christmas tree farms around the country.

The owners of the Peacock Road Family Farm in Laingsburg, near Lansing, are once again donating Christmas trees to Trees for Troops.

"We're involved in it because it does support military families that otherwise may not be able to have a Christmas tree, a real Christmas tree, in their homes," she said.

Peacock Road Family Farm will be donating 100 trees to the project.

"We actually have them sponsored -- a lot of them by school children," said Carpenter. "In our school tours ... we ask for $25 donation to sponsor the tree that basically pays for the cost of what we have to pay ..."

She says some of the trees will go to Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Michigan, and some could go overseas.
