3-Year-Old Girl Hit By Car, Killed While Running Across Street To Mother
ZEELAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A 3-year-old western Michigan girl has died after she was hit by a vehicle while running across a street to her mother.
Makenna Fraaza was struck Sunday afternoon in Zeeland Township, southwest of Grand Rapids.
The Ottawa County sheriff's office says the girl was with her mother and at least two other children when Makenna crossed the street to look over a bridge.
Sgt. Steve Austin tells MLive.com for a story Monday that Makenna was told to stay put, but ran to her mother just as a Jeep Sport was coming over the bridge. The 61-year-old driver braked and swerved, but could not avoid the girl.
