3 Reasons The NFL's No Dunking Over The Goal Post Rule Is Utterly Stupid [BLOG]

1. Have there been a long rash of injuries because NFL players have dunked over the goal post while celebrating a touchdown? Never. There is no player safety issue involved. None.

2. Is it entertaining? Absolutely. It is a direct display to how great the athletes are in the NFL. Dunking over a 10-foot high cross-bar in full pads is impressive athletically.

3. Is it taunting? No, it's not as if they are "posterising" the opposition. It's far away from the opposition.

OK, if player unbalances the goal post while the dunking over it, fine, penalize them. But just banning it all together? Pure stupidity.

What's next, the Lambeau leap? Fist bumping? The high-five? The butt slap?
