3 Men Wanted In Connection With Fatal Triple Shooting On Detroit's East Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are searching for three suspects in connection with a deadly triple shooting on the city's east side.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. Monday in the area of area of Woodlawn and Erwin, off of Van Dyke Road south of City Airport, not far from where a weekend-long block party was wrapping up.

Police say the suspects were riding in a black Chevy Impala when one of the suspects exited the vehicle, approached a 19-year-old man and attempted to rob him at gunpoint.

A 44-year-old man who was nearby saw what was going on, police said, and struck the suspect over the head with a bottle. A second suspect then exited the vehicle and started shooting. The first suspect also opened fire, police said. The suspects then got back into their car and fled the scene.

The 19-year-old man was fatally wounded in the gunfire. The 44-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound, as did a 24-year-old woman who was nearby. Both were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

The first suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion, approximately 28-years-old, 5'8" tall and 150 lbs. with thick black braids, light mustache and connected goatee and dark brown eyes. He was wearing a black short sleeve shirt and dark clothes.

The second suspect is described as a black male with a medium complexion, approximately 28-years-old, 6'1" tall and 170 lbs. with either a small afro or braided hair, light mustache and dark brown eyes. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

The third suspect, the driver, was described only as a black male.
