3 Hospitalized After Head-On Collision Caused By 'Distracted' Driver

SHELBY TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- Three people are suffering from serious injuries following a head-on crash in Shelby Township Sunday afternoon.

Sergeant Greg Neubacher said that a 44-year-old Shelby Township man was airlifted to Royal Oak Beaumont after a 19-year-old distracted driver -- with his girlfriend as the passenger -- crossed over the center line on 26 Mile Road between Schoenherr and Hayes.

All three involved had to be extricated from the cars. The portion of road was closed for hours during the investigation, which is still underway.
