3 Detroit Teens Charged In Connection With Armed Carjacking At A Dearborn McDonald's
DEARBORN (WWJ) -- Three Detroit teenagers have been arrested and charged in connection with an armed carjacking that took place at a Dearborn McDonald's on Monday.
Nineteen-year-old Charles Brown Jr., 17-year-old Dontrail Taylor and 19-year-old Kortez Miller -- all from Detroit -- were arraigned on Friday.
Brown Jr. was charged with carjacking, armed robbery, unlawful driving away of an automobile, receiving and concealing stolen property, obstructing a police officer, two counts of possessing a stolen financial transaction device, and felony firearm.
Taylor was charged with receiving and concealing stolen property, obstructing a police officer, and felony firearm. Miller was arraigned on a charge of receiving and concealing stolen property.
The victim of the carjacking said that when she pulled into the drive-thru, three suspects -- who were hiding nearby -- approached the driver side of the vehicle, showed a gun and ordered her from the vehicle.
The suspects then entered the vehicle and fled the scene.
A short time later, the vehicle was found by police officers in Detroit. Dearborn police officers arrived and saw the stolen vehicle being driven in the area of Mt. Elliot and I-94 by subjects matching the description given to police by the victim.
Dearborn officers took four suspects into custody, three adults and one juvenile, after a brief foot pursuit. During the arrest, officers recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the crime, the victim's vehicle, along with additional evidence linking the arrestees to the crime.
Bond was set at $75,000 and required the defendants to be subject to GPS tether monitoring. A pre-trial is scheduled for October 23 at the 19th District Court.
