3 Dead, 1 Hurt In Monroe County Motorbike Crash

EXETER TWP. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a dirt bike collided with a motorcycle in southeastern Michigan, leaving three young people dead and a teenager seriously hurt.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday on Doty Road, not far of South Stoney Creek Road in Exeter Township.

According to police, the dirt bike drifted into the lane of the oncoming motorcycle, and everyone was ejected from their motorbikes after the crash.

Dirt bike driver Marc Thompson, 23, and motorcyclist Darin Lipkowski, 18, were declared dead at the scene. A 21-year-old woman riding with Thompson died at the hospital. Samantha Morlan, Lipkowski's 18-year-old passenger, was reported to be in temporary-serious condition early Saturday.

Investigators said it appears that the women were wearing helmets but the men were not.

Police haven't released the name of the woman who died.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who might have information is urged to contact police at 734-240-7508.
