2nd Suspect Arrested In Death Of Man Found Stabbed Inside Truck

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Police have arrested the second of two 18-year-old suspects in the fatal stabbing of a man found behind the wheel of his crashed pickup truck in Mount Clemens.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said Jayvon Cates, of Mount Clemens, was arrested Wednesday in Detroit with help from Detroit police and U.S. Marshals. He was awaiting arraignment on a charge of first-degree murder.

Lt. John Michalke says deputies discovered a pickup that had hit a pole behind a business in Mount Clemens around 8:20 p.m. Saturday. Twenty-two-year-old Alexander Burkart, of Clinton Township, was in the driver's seat with a stab wound to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Michalke says investigators used surveillance video to identify two suspects: Cates and Deandre L. Arnold, who was arrested on Sunday.

Arnold was arraigned Monday on a first-degree murder charge and returns to court March 9.
