2nd Man Sentenced In 2012 Slaying Of Bouncer, Anti-Crime Advocate

DETROIT (AP) — The second of two men convicted in the fatal shooting of an anti-crime advocate and Detroit nightclub bouncer has been sentenced.

The Detroit News reports that a Wayne County judge sentenced Michael Lawson on Friday to 37½ years to 75 years in prison.

Authorities have said 39-year-old Marcel Jackson kicked Carl Bruner out of Club Pandemonium in June 2012 after a woman was hit. They say Jackson was shot in the back after Bruner returned to the club with Lawson.

Bruner and Lawson were arrested two years later. Bruner was sentenced in January to life in prison.

Jackson was a member of the crime prevention community group Detroit 300.
