$2,500 Reward Offered In Case Of Great Grandmother Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver

DETROIT (WWJ) - Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a $2,500 reward in a hit-and-run cold case.

Patricia Banks, 59, died one year and one day ago when police say she was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Belden and Midland, north of the Lodge Service Drive, on Detroit's northwest side.

According to Crime Stoppers, Banks called her mother at around midnight on Tuesday, Aug. 4 2015, to let her know she was waiting on a ride home. That's the last time her family heard from her.

Her body was found in the street a few hours later.

Police do not have a description of a suspect or a vehicle, but investigators believe Banks was struck at around 3:20 a.m.

Banks' family moved from Little Rock, Arkansas in 1973.  Crime Stoppers says she was the victim of a hit-and-run in Chicago in the early 80s and was told she would never walk again.  She was able to walk again but was disabled and unable to be employed.

Banks left behind two daughters, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Crime Stoppers is now offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest in connection with Banks' death.

Anyone who may know the wanted driver, who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could help detectives solve this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Tips may also be submitted online at this link, or by texting CSM and the tip to CRIMES (2746370).

As always, all tips and cash rewards through Crime Stoppers are completely anonymous.
