$2,500 Reward Offered For Information In University Of Michigan Sexual Assault

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Authorities are hoping a $2,500 cash reward is enough to encourage someone to speak up about a sexual assault that occurred on the University of Michigan's Ann Arbor campus.

The assault happened around 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7  on a path at the Geddes Street entrance to the Nichols Arboretum.

The victim, a student at the university, told police she was running down the path when an unknown male grabbed her arm, pulled her to the ground, punched her in the face and sexually assaulted her. The woman was eventually able to break free and ran out of the Arboretum to safety, police said.

According to witness descriptions, the suspect is a white male in his 20s, taller than 5'7″ with an average build and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt.

Anyone with information is urged to call the University of Michigan Police Department at 734-763-1131, the university's anonymous tip line at 1-800-863-1355 or email dpss-safety-security@umich.edu.
