TROY (WWJ) - Police have released the name of a young metro Detroit woman who died after a crash in Troy.

Troy police said Dena Marie Elliott, 25, of Sterling Heights, was critically hurt when she drove her Ford Escape SUV through a red light on westbound Big Beaver — 16 Mile Road —  at Troy Street late Thursday night, hitting another vehicle that had the green light.

According to the  Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office, Elliott died at around 1 a.m. Friday at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital.
