24-year-old man found tied up after allegedly being kidnapped from Metro Detroit gym

(CBS DETROIT) - One suspect has been arrested after a 24-year-old man was found tied up in a vehicle after allegedly being kidnapped from a Metro Detroit gym last night, police said. 

Police say a 24-year-old victim was taken from the Lifetime Fitness on Lakeside Blvd. in Shelby Township. 

After that, Sterling Heights officers saw the suspect vehicle in a subdivision and pursued it. The vehicle then crashed at 15 Mile Road and Maple Lane at about 9:30 p.m.

One suspect, a 33-year-old Florida man, was arrested, and the 24-year-old victim was found tied up in the vehicle. He sustained minor injuries. Three unknown suspects fled the scene. 

The 33-year-old suspect was charged with carjacking (life felony), conspiracy carjacking (life felony), armed robbery (life felony), torture (life felony), first-degree home invasion (20-year felony), first-degree conspiracy home invasion (20-year felony), unlawful imprisonment (15-year felony), conspiracy unlawful imprisonment (15-year felony) and three counts of felony firearm (two-year mandatory felony).

"Thank you to the Shelby Township and Sterling Heights Police Departments for their diligent investigations. My office is dedicated to delivering justice for the victim and holding the suspect accountable for his actions," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a statement.
