$2,000 Reward As Hunt Continues For Fugitive Wanted In Pontiac Slaying

PONTIAC (WWJ) - The hunt continues for an ex-convict who disappeared after police believe he killed his girlfriend in her Oakland County apartment.

A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of 33-year-old Kevin Wiley, a parolee who is the primary suspect in the murder of 30-year-old Marie Colburn.

Her body was found stuffed in the closet of her Pontiac home, in the 100-block of Ridgemont, by her mother last Friday night. Authorities said she had been suffocated.

Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard is frustrated that Wiley was even out on the streets to begin with.

"This is an individual who had been in prison. He'd been charged with homicide and armed robbery, pleaded down to manslaughter, got back out, had multiple arrests for dangerous drugs, got back out, was convicted as a burglary, got back out again — and all of this within about 10 years," Bouchard told WWJ's Zahra Huber.

"I mean, how is this person even in a position to be potentially killing another person after they've already taken a life."

Bouchard said Wiley's isn't an isolated situation, either. There are others.

"The frustrating thing to us is not only this case today, but people in Lansing and Washington want to make it easier to get out of prisons. So, imagine what we're going to facing in the future if this happens," he said.

Bouchard said Wiley cut his GPS tether off his leg, dumping it somewhere in Detroit before fleeing.

"He's got a two, two-and-a-half day head start of us," Bouchard said.

The sheriff's department's Fugitive Apprehension Team is actively looking for Wiley.

Anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts is urged not to try to apprehend her, but to call local police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Tips may also be submitted online at this link, or by texting CSM and the tip to CRIMES (2746370).

Those who feel they are in danger should dial 911.
