2 U.S. Border Agents Charged With Felony Theft In Michigan

LANSING (WWJ)-- Following an investigation by Michigan State Police, a pair of U.S. Border Patrol agents based in Michigan have been arrested and charged for misconduct and theft while on duty.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette said that his Public Integrity Unit has charged Terence Bruce of St. Clair Shores and Stanley Nicholson of Romulus with felony theft and misconduct for removing an item from a residence for personal use.

Schuette said in a statement that "confidence in public safety is of utmost importance" and that taxpayers deserve honesty and accountability from those who work on their behalf. The two counts carry a maximum of five years each.

Since becoming Michigan Attorney General in 2011, Schuette's office has filed 313 charges against 64 individuals holding positions of public trust.
