2 Officers Injured During Arrest Of Man After Car Thefts

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Two police officers received minor injuries while arresting a man suspected in vehicle thefts in mid-Michigan, including one vehicle that had an elderly woman inside of it.

MLive.com and the Lansing State Journal report that officers had to use a stun gun on the man as he fought with police Friday morning in East Lansing.

East Lansing Police Lt. Scott Wrigglesworth said it took six officers to take the 6-foot-3-inch, 270-pound man into custody after the attempted theft of a pizza delivery driver's vehicle.

Police say the man earlier stole a vehicle northeast of Lansing in Midland and drove to Perry in Shiawassee County. An elderly woman was in a second vehicle that was stolen in Perry. She was released quickly and unharmed.

The cases remain under investigation.
