2 Novi Men Killed In Labor Day Crash Up North

NORWOOD TWP. (WWJ) - Police in Charlevoix County say two men from metro Detroit were killed when their vehicle crashed on Labor Day.

The accident happened around 12:20 a.m. Monday on Norwood Road, about a mile west of US-31 in Norwood Township.

According to police, 29-year-old John Kuhn was behind the wheel of a 1998 Dodge pickup truck when his vehicle left the roadway on a left hand curve and struck a tree on the driver's side. Kuhn and his 27-year-old passenger, Brandon McLeod, were pronounced dead at the scene. Both men are from Novi.

Police say speed appears to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

The Charlevoix County Sheriff's Office was assisted at scene by the Antrim County Sheriff's Office, the Charlevoix Ambulance and Paramedics, the Charlevoix Township Fire Department, and the Banks Township Fire Department.
