2 Men Escape Serious Injury After Oakland County Plane Crash [VIDEO]

WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Two men have escaped serious injury after the plane they were flying in crashed on a beach near Oakland County International Airport northwest of Detroit.

The Oakland Press and WDIV-TV report the single-engine Piper PA28 crashed Saturday evening on Pontiac Lake beach. Oakland County director of central services Dave VanderVeen says the plane was flying east and crashed short of the airport.

The men were standing after the crash but suffered cuts and were taken to a hospital.

The crash's official cause wasn't known but VanderVeen says weather wasn't ideal - skies were overcast and visibility was less than a mile.
