Amber Alert Canceled: 2 Children Kidnapped In Stolen Car Found Safe [VIDEO]

BURTON (WWJ) - An Amber Alert has been canceled for two young kids who were kidnapped when the car they were in was stolen from a gas station.

The children were taken just before 7 a.m. Wednesday from the Admiral gas station on South Saginaw Street in Burton, just south of Flint. The mother told police she went inside the gas station to buy cigarettes, leaving her 2-year-old daughter Ariana and 9-month-old son Lincoln in the backseat of her Monte Carlo.

As she was walking back to her vehicle, she says a heavy-set black man wearing a red hoodie jumped in the car and sped away.

About a half-hour after the Amber Alert was issued, just before 10 a.m., Michigan State Police said the vehicle -- a dark blue, 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with dark tinted windows -- was located in north Flint, and the children were found unharmed.

Other details about the recovery were not immediately released.

Police are now searching for the suspect, described as a black male, 5'8" tall and 300 lbs., wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact 911 or call police at 810-742-2542.
