2 Injured In Shootout Following Robbery Attempt On Detroit's East Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say what started as a robbery attempt on Detroit's east side ended in a shootout with two people injured.

The incident unfolded just before 8 p.m. Friday outside of a home in the 2000 block of Meade near the I-75 and Davison Freeway interchange.

A man was standing outside of the home when he was allegedly approached by a group of people who attempted to rob him. The man's brother saw what was happening, grabbed him gun and rushed outside, where a shootout with the suspects ensued.

The man's brother and one of the suspects were injured in the shooting.

According to reports, police recovered two weapons outside the home and one weapon inside.

It was just one of three shooting incidents that happened Friday night in the city, leaving a total of two people dead and at least six others injured.

At a car wash along Gratiot near Houston-Whittier Street, a man was killed and four other people were wounded when an unknown suspect opened fire.

In the other incident, a 21-year-old man was shot dead while walking in a neighborhood near 8 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue after a car pulled up and two people jumped out of the back seat, one with an assault rifle.
