2 In Custody In Death Of Baby Boy

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police have made two arrests in connection with the death of a 1-year-old boy.

Investigators say a relative called 911 on Thursday after finding the child unresponsive at a home on Keating Street, near Seven Mile Road and John R.

The names of those in custody were not immediately released, but Deputy Detroit Police Chief David LeValle said one was a relative of the child. The second suspect is a family member's companion.

LeValle said the case against the two will be forwarded to the prosecutor's office.

Police aren't saying what might have led to the child's death.

LeValle said they're wrapping up the investigation.

"... I'm not going to elaborate on exactly what the charges are that we have them initially charged with, or a lot more about the scene," LeValle told reporters Friday. "Right now homicide investigators are at the medical examiner's office and at he prosecutor's office going over the entire case."

Police have not named the young victim.
