2 Hospitalized After Head-On SUV Crash Near Howell

HOWELL (WWJ) - Two people were sent to local hospitals Tuesday night after a pair of SUVs collided head-on near Howell.

It happened just before 8:30 p.m. along West Grand River near Fleming Road.

According to Livingston County Sheriff's officials, a 28-year old Fowlerville resident in a Chevy Trailblazer, heading westbound on Grand River, crossed into oncoming eastbound traffic — hitting a Ford Explorer being driven by an 82-year old Fowlerville resident.

The older driver was taken to University of Michigan hospital in serious condition.  An 8-year old in the Explorer, officials said, was at Mott Children's Hospital Wednesday morning in stable condition with leg injuries.

The driver of the Trailblazer was not hurt.

No names have been released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff Department Traffic Safety Bureau.
