2 Firefighters Injured Battling Blaze In Warren

WARREN (WWJ) - Two firefighters are recovering in local hospitals after being injured while battling a blaze at a home in Warren.

The fire broke out just before 2 a.m. Wednesday at a home on Meadow Avenue, in a neighborhood north of Van Dyke Avenue and 8 Mile Road.

Battalion Chief Don Jarrett said the elements really took a toll on his crew.

"Real intense house fire with the weather conditions, the water, the ice and snow, we had a little mishap with a ladder and somebody on the roof," Jarrett told WWJ's Ron Dewey.

Both firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries. One was taken to St. John Main and the other was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital.

The home is occupied, but no one was home at the time. Authorities say the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
