2 Dog Walkers Attacked By 'Unknown Canine' In Shelby Township

SHELBY TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- Two Shelby Township residents were attacked while walking their dog early Sunday morning.

Police say the "unknown type of canine" was described as either a coyote or a German Shepard by the victims. The incident happened at around 3 a.m. in the area of Janis St. and Harry St.

Both walkers sustained serious injuries to the arms and were transported to Troy Beaumont Hospital for treatment. Their dog did not suffer any serious injuries.

Police are urging residents to be aware if walking in the area with pets and to call Macomb County Animal Control at 586-469-5151 or the police department at 586-731-2121 ext. 3 to report any coyotes in the area.
