19-Year-Old Man Found Caged In Special Needs Home

PARIS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in Michigan's thumb are investigating the caging of a 19-year-old mentally-challenged man inside the bedroom of a private home that serves people with special needs.

The Saginaw News and WNEM-TV report Monday that a Huron County sheriff's deputy found the man inside the cage on Oct. 20 while investigating a civil dispute.

The sheriff's office says in a release that the man was in a caged bed with the cage door chained.

Three adults and two children have since been removed from the home, which is in Paris Township about 90 miles north of Detroit.

State adult protective services officials also are investigating the case.
