18-Year-Old Charged In Death Of Popular Tow Truck Driver

PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) - A prosecutor says he's pursuing charges against a young man accused of fatally striking a popular tow truck driver who was pulling a car out of a ditch in St. Clair County.

The Times Herald says hundreds of tow trucks, including some from Indiana and Canada, were part of the funeral procession last month for 28-year-old Jason Schultz.

Prosecutor Mike Wendling says 18-year-old Trent Sheldon is charged with causing death while under the influence of marijuana. Police say Sheldon drove on the shoulder of a road and struck Schultz in Clyde Township on Jan. 15.

A message seeking comment Thursday wasn't immediately returned by Sheldon's lawyer.
