18-Year-Old Bicyclist Hit By Car On Ford Road

DEARBORN (WWJ) - An 18-year-old man is hospitalized but expected to be OK after he was hit by a car on Ford Road in Dearborn on Friday.

Dearbon police said the teen was headed eastbound on Ford, east of Mercury, shortly before 1 p.m. when he was struck by a Chevy Venture driven by a 25-year-old Dearborn woman.

The collision did not take place in a crosswalk, according to police.

The young man was rushed to Oakwood Hospital with what officials said were determined to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Chief Ronald Haddad, in a news release, expressed his sympathies for those involved, and reminded the public to be careful while driving.

Police said alcohol did not appear to be a contributing factor in the incident which remains under investigation.
